Camp 2012

We spent last Wednesday through Sunday at youth camp with some of our kiddos from church. We had a great time with them...we do every year! Here are just a few of my favorite shots from the week.

A New Journey

The McMahon's have a little family secret that hasn't gone out public yet. I'm not sure why I haven't shared it yet. I guess in the back of my head, I wasn't 100% sure it was going to happen. We've talked about making this move several times, but we're just now jumping out. This Friday will be Micah's last day working for SpawGlass. He's quitting his job to try his hand at starting his own business. It's something he's always wanted to do. We've talked and prayed about it ever since we've been married. The past few months, we've really felt a peace like we've got a release from God that this is what we're suppose to be doing. We do not think it's going to be an easy road, but we are confident it's the one we're suppose to be walking down. We're choosing this path for several reasons. First, Micah wants to be around family more. His job now has him working 10-12 hour days...often. Second, we want to be able to devote more time to our youth ministry. It, in and of itself, is a full time job. Finally, we feel like  this is something Micah has dreamed about his whole life. We don't want to look back 20-30 years from now with regrets. So, we're going to try it. If we, and I do mean we cause this is a family decision, fail...at least we'll know we tried.

So, starting next week, Micah will begin his new career of landscaping. He's hoping to start there, and grow into something bigger. He'll also be doing side jobs of remodeling, handy man, etc. So, I'm sure I'll be using this little blog to showcase some of his work, share a few struggles, and keep everyone up to date on how we're doing. In the mean time, if you know anyone in the Rosenberg, Richmond, Katy, Sugar Land, etc. area that needs lawn care or maintenance work done, I know someone who can help you out.

I don't think it's any coincidence that this past week at camp, this was the theme verse. It kinda sums up our life right now. We're totally putting our life in God's hands, and trusting he's going to take care of us!

Proverbs 3: 5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.[

Unexpected Birthday Surprise

Last week, as I opened the door to go run some errands, I nearly tripped over a box that I didn't realize had even been delivered. I wasn't expecting anything. I texted Micah, and he wasn't expecting anything. I recognized the return address as his parents, so I decided to go ahead and open it.
Inside were all kinds of goodies for Kaden. There were also a few things of Micah's that had been left or found by his parents. But, the majority of it was for Kaden. Tons of new books. Several were from Micah's brother Brandon up in Pittsburgh. There were also swim diapers, toys, clothes & more books.
He had fun digging through all the new toys and books. It's always fun to get unexpected surprises!
Thanks Brandon, Grandma, and Grandpops!

Splashway

One of the things on our Summer List is Splashway. Splashway is a little water park, about an hour away, located in the middle of nowhere. We stumbled upon Splashway a couple years ago, and have loved it ever since. It's nothing too fancy, but it's decently priced, family friendly, & you can bring your own food/drinks. It's small enough that you can let the kids run free, and it's perfectly safe.
When we first got there and headed for the water, K was not in a great mood. I was beginning to question our being there. However, after a good snack break, we headed back for the water and he was perfectly happy.
It takes him a while to warm up to the water sometimes, and I think all the big kids were overwhelming him. We found  a little kiddie area where he was able to roam free and explore. We had a little vest shirt on him, and he did not like it. Plus, he doesn't like being held onto. He's very independent...which is not good around water at his age.
However, the pool area we found was very shallow. He was able to sit in it and play. It was perfect.
After he played for an hour or two, he passed out. He took a good hour nap on the picnic table, in the shade.
When he woke up, after a snack, we headed back to the kiddie area. He loved these water jets that bubbled in the water.
He also figured out how to climb up and slide down the slide on his own.

But that didn't keep the big kids from trying to help him.

He would climb up the steps.
Hit the top landing.
Turn himself around and lay on his belly.
Then slide down. Smiling & laughing the whole time.
Then he'd repeat the process.

We had a great time at the Splashway park.

We look forward to many trips back this summer!

Balls of Fun!

Kaden is ALL boy. He likes things like trucks, dirt & BALLS! Thanks to my friend Amber, he got a bag of 100 balls for his 1st birthday. However, at Grammy's house, there's 200 balls that live in the blow up frog. Can you guess where he likes to hang out when we go there??
He's all smiles when he climbs into this ball pit!
 He would yell at us.
 Then start chunking balls.
It's a fun game, but it's a mess to clean up. You know what Grandparents say though, anything for their sweet grandkids. However, I'm the one that was picking up all the balls at the end of the night. Guess that's what you get for being the mom! :)

Father's Day

Sunday we celebrated Micah's 2nd Father's Day. He's such a great daddy! We were running a little behind schedule Sunday morning, so we decided to do gifts right after church. On our way home from church, K fell asleep. This is how he looked while Micah opened gifts.
I didn't go over the top for gifts. I did a homemade gift (thank you Pinterest), and special photo gift for Daddy.
I cut the bottom off of pop top cans, cleaned out the cans, filled them with some of his favorite treats, covered the can with scrapbook paper, and made a little sticker for the can. Simple, and fun.
Micah's cans were filled with Hershey's Kissed w/ Almonds, Peanut M&Ms, & honey roasted peanuts. Some of his favorite sweets.
This, however, was my favorite gift. I had a friend of mine take some pics of K holding up these letters. He was very uncooperative, but she still managed to get some good pics. I also made pics that said Papa & Pops for his grandpas.
After we did gifts, we went to my Uncle's house for lunch. We were celebrating, in addition to Father's Day, my Papa's 90th birthday. Kaden had fun playing outside while my Uncle was grilling.
However, it had rained the day before, and K found the one puddle in the flower bed. You can see the mud on his leg.
So we let him enjoy the warm day in just a diaper for a while.
When we got back inside, he tried to attack his cousin Gillian for her banana.
And then he made himself comfortable in the dog crate.
He had so much fun with the dogs. Crawling in and out of the crate, sharing his snacks, and "talking"to them.
He even let them lick his leftovers of his fingers. How sweet is that!
When we got home from the party, we headed over to the pool.
K and daddy had so much fun swimming and playing together.
Having daddy there was extra nice since he's always stuck with mommy.
He carried his bucket around and had a great time!
We had a nice, relaxing Father's Day! Hope you did too!!
