Sore!

So, I did a work-out boot camp yesterday. Can I just say that I'm sore in places I didn't even know existed!! I can tell when I look in the mirror that I'm out of shape, but now it's become painfully clear. It hurts to do everything: sit, walk, stand. I'm fine once I get settled, but as soon as I go to move agian, it hurts!! Anyway, I'm letting this pain motivate me. I woke up this morning at 5:20 to run two miles. Hopefully, the next time I attend a boot camp, I won't feel like I can't get out of bed the next day!!

Cake

Micah & I just pulled out our wedding cake. I know you're suppose to eat it on your 1 year anniversary, but we were in San Antonio. Last night we had our bfs Sean & Carrie over, so we decided to take out the cake. We grilled steaks and baked potatoes, and wedding cake was the perfect dessert. We were actually quite surprised by the cake. This is our cake from our wedding day.

When we pulled out our cake, we were unsure about how it would taste. We'd heard both positive and negative stories from other 1st anniversary cake eaters. However, ours was quite good. We thoroughly enjoyed it!!

San Antonio

Last weekend Micah & I spent a long weekend in San Antonio to celebrate our 1st anniversary. We got there pretty late Friday night and we were exhausted, so we just hung out at the hotel. We stayed at the Marriott on the RiverWalk. Our room looked over the River Center. It was really nice.

On Saturday we woke up and headed out for a day of fun. First we went to the IMAX. Micah wanted to watch the Alamo IMAX and I had never seen it, so we went there first and saw the show. It was very short, but cool.
Next, we headed to the Natural Bridge Caverns & the Safari Wildlife Ranch. We walked through the caverns. They were awesome! We went on a self guided tour, and a guided tour. The guided tour was cool. We went really deep down into the cavern and we walked through some dark, narrow areas.

Between tours, we decided to go mining. You buy a bag of dirt that's preloaded with precious stones, arrow heads, or fossils. Micah & I are just a bunch of big kids, so we bought a bag. Here's what we discovered:

We had fun at the caverns!! Once we were done, we headed to the Wildlife Ranch. It's basically a drive-thru safari. When you enter, they give you a bag of food, and the animals will come to your car to eat.

After a long day, we went back to the hotel to clean up and then down to the Riverwalk to eat dinner.

After a long day on Saturday, we slept in a little on Sunday and then went to SeaWorld. At first we weren't sure if we wanted to go, but since neither of us had been since we were kids, we decided to go ahead and go. We saw 3 shows: Shamu, The sea lions, and the dolphins. We also saw Pirates in 4D. Yes....Micah & I both screamed multiple times. It was so funny! After all the shows we went to feed the sea lions and walk around the exhibits. We wanted to feed the dolphins, but we didn't get there in time. However, we bought a year pass cause it was the same price as a day pass. So, hopefully we can go back again this summer.

Monday morning our plans changed. Micah's best friend in Dallas had a baby Sunday, so we decided to make a major detour and drive to Dallas on our way home to visit the new baby. So, Monday morning we woke up early and went on a boat tour. Then we walked the Riverwalk for a little bit and headed out.

We had so much fun in San Antonio. There is so much to do. We can't wait to go back!!

1 Whole Year

Micah and I just celebrated our first (of many) anniversary. We still can't believe it's been a year already. It's flown by!! We spent a long weekend together in San Antonio. I promise to post about that separately. This post is about my gift. I thought that the trip was our gift to each other. Ooops! Micah got me a gift, which turns out is actually for both of us.
This is what I got:

Not the camera, that was my wedding gift. The lens is the new part. It's mainly for taking pictures up close with the background blurred. I took this picture with it:

Micah is standing in front of a lake with a bunch of flamingos. I'm so excited to learn more about the lens and my camera. I've been looking for photography classes. Hopefully I can find something for the summer.

Weekend Projects

So, I've had my great husband working on a few weekend projects. We moved in our house and had a lot more space than furniture. Although we bought several pieces, we couldn't afford to go out a buy brand new furniture for every empty space. So, I put my handyman husband to work. The first piece was this dresser. We bought it on craigslist for $50.

We (Micah) stripped the paint, sanded it down, repainted, and we added new knobs. Now it looks like this:

Next project. We took this hideous hutch from my parents. Not pictured is the top piece. It had glass shelves for china display. They were going to sell it or throw it out. So, we adopted it.

Again, a little stripping & sanding. We re-stained it and added new knobs. And, this is what we have:

Last, but not least, we needed a book shelf for our office area. My solution: buy one. My husbands solution: the words I so often hear, "I can build that." So, he did.

People have ben quite impressed with the book shelf. In fact, I think he's got 5 bookshelf requests right now. Looks like he'll be busy for a while...
That's why I keep him around!!! ;-)
