Feeding the Ducks

Tonight we went and fed the ducks. We've been wanting to go for a long time. It's on our Summer List of to-do items.
But for one reason or another, we've been unable to do it until tonight. It's rained every day for over a week.
Today, there was finally a break. Although you can tell from the pics that it was still really muddy. Micah held Kaden most of the time because he would head straight for the water.
Kaden wasn't too impressed at first. He would just stare and point. Then Micah put pieces of bread in his hand and let him feed the ducks. They were actually very gentile.
We went to a lake in a near by neighborhood. Our lakes have ducks, but they're not use to people yet, so they just run or fly away. These ducks are use to being fed all the time.
We had a good time. There were way more ducks than I anticipated, so we didn't quite have enough bread, but we'll be better prepared next time.
The ducks knew we were coming. They headed our direction as soon as we parked, and pretty much left us as soon as we were out of bread.
We let Kaden down to walk around a bit after we were done feeding. He would try to pet the ducks, and they would just run away.
So he would yell, as if asking "why are you running from me." Which would also make them run.
And more than once he tried to get to the lake. My little water boy.
We had fun. We'll do it again! Maybe when it's not so muddy!!

We Have A Climber!

Last weekend we went to some friend's house for dinner. After dinner, we went outside to let the kids play. We've discovered, as has Kaden, that he prefers to climb up slides...instead of slide down them.
I sat him at the top to let him slide down. He enjoyed it, but not as much as he enjoyed climbing up.
He's a very determined little boy.
If he slid down, unintentionally, he got right back up to try again.
He even got brave enough to try climbing with no hands...just walking up.
And he did good. He got so brave, that he tried to climb from the slide to the bar on the left of it. I had to put a stop to it at some point. I do believe that we have a little monkey on our hands though!

Play Time at the Mall

Last week we met Kaden's buddy Carson at the mall for lunch and some play time.
They had a good time playing.
They haven't really grasped playing together. I think they're starting to kinda recognize each other, but they don't really play together.
They climbed all over the toys, and played with the wall games.
Then Kaden created his own game. He thought it was funny to go running out of the play area, so I had to chase him. I didn't think it was that fun!
I preferred him climbing on the turtle, etc.
Carson had more fun when he was climbing with him as well.
We always  have fun when we hang out with Carson and his mommy!!

New Pool & Puppy Love

I've been neglecting the ole blog here. We've been really busy since daddy quit. Not accomplishing much on our Summer List, but staying busy still. Last week, we went and got Kaden a new pool. I think he likes it!
Turns out we should have waited though, cause my parents went the next day and everything was on sale. Guess they're already starting to clear out the summer stuff. Side note: have you noticed Hobby Lobby has Christmas stuff out already...crazy!!
Anyway, Kaden didn't give us much time. As soon as his daddy had it blown up, and I hooked up the hose, he was in it.
You can't tell by the pics, but it was starting to get dark, so we knew he wasn't going to swim for long. He, however, had other plans. I think he's going to like his new pool.
After we got him bathed and dressed, my brother came by with the puppy he had inherited from my sister.
Kaden was in Heaven!! I forsee a puppy somewhere in the distant future! He loves dogs...of all sizes! He's not scared at all.
He was having so much fun with that dog.
He would "tickle" her and shove is whole hand in her mouth while she chewed on it. He thought it was funny!
It was so funny watching him play with her.
She's gonna be a big dog, and we're not quite ready for a puppy. But one day we'll get him his own dog friend!

Camp 2012

We spent last Wednesday through Sunday at youth camp with some of our kiddos from church. We had a great time with them...we do every year! Here are just a few of my favorite shots from the week.
