This Week's Favorites! (pictures)

This week's highlights: First time in the Bumbo chair, First time swimming, & discovering my thumbs...my new favorite toy!!

He has the cutest little chin pucker when he gets sad. I have yet to get a good picture of it. You can't help but smile or laugh when he does it. It's usually followed by the most pitiful little whimper.

I don't remember what he was watching, but he looks so concerned.

This was dad's doing. He thought it was pretty funny! He can't wait for Kaden to be big enough to help with building projects!

Swim Time

Today, my mom & I decided to go to the pool for a little while. It's been said, more than once, that I'm pretty white this summer. I guess everyone is so use to me being tan during the summer. Since I had Kaden in early May, I haven't had much time to just lay in the sun. At his 2 month check-up, Kaden's Dr gave us the ok to hang out at the pool. So, we've been twice now. His first time was at a birthday party. He loves bath time, so I hoped he'd like the pool too! He does! He just chills in his little raft. (It actually has places for his legs, but right now, we just lay him across!)

Kaden, mommy & Grandma at the pool.

It's kinda dark, but he's smiling at mommy. Not sure what I was doing, but he's starting to smile and coo a lot. We've even got a little giggle from him a couple times.

After 15 or 20 minutes, he'd had enough. He stuck his thumb in his mouth and passed out. This is the first time he's fallen asleep with his thumb. Every now and then I'll catch him sucking it....usually when he's hungry & fussy, and I'm not feeding him fast enough. He wasn't even fussy at the time, I guess he just wanted something to suck on. I know it's not a good habit, but I think it's so cute when he sucks his thumb. He's the loudest smacker!

Now this is the life!!

Swimming with mom & Grandma wore him out!!!

Astro's Game & David Crowder

Saturday night we left Kaden with my parents for the first time. OK, I left him a few times to run to the store, or once when I didn't feel good so I could take a nap, but I think this was the longest amount of time we've ever left him. I'll admit that I cried...just a little as we drove off. Luckily, we were taking a couple guys from the youth group with us, so they didn't let me cry long.

Because Micah is from Dallas, we're not really allowed to be Astro's fans in our house, so we weren't really going to watch the game. Although one of the kids we took, it was his first time to ever see a baseball game live. Anyway, we went because it was Family Faith night at the Ballpark, and the David Crowder Band was playing. Since it's their last year on tour, Micah really wanted to see them live. We showed up to the game in the 4th inning, and bought cheap tickets at the very top. We knew we could move down for the concert.
Micah anxiously awaited the Concert...in his RANGERS shirt, I'd like to point out.
We were still pretty high up for the concert. It was more crowded than we thought it was going to be, but we enjoyed it. The band did a great job, and we had a good time!
Here's a shot of the boys before we left. I was definitely outnumbered, and I missed my baby like crazy, but we had a good time!! I told my parents when we picked Kaden up that I hoped they enjoyed it cause it was going to take a me a while before I left him again. I need to recover! (Sad...I know!!)

He's growing too fast!!

I can't believe my little guy is actually sitting in his Bumbo chair. The box said for ages 3 months and up, but I decided to go ahead and stick him in it to see how he did. He's always been strong, and good at holding his head up. As you can see from the pictures, he did such a good job. He loves to be up and looking around, so this was perfect. Daisy was at the house with me when I first put him in it, so she sat next to him and talked to him. I wanted to make sure he wasn't going to fall over or forward. He did great. He sat for a long time looking around and smiling. I was able to cook dinner, and make banana pudding for my brother who was coming home from Colorado. I think this is going to be one of his favorite things...and probably mine too!! I'm so excited that he likes it and can sit in it, but it was a sad reminder that he's growing so fast! I'm not gonna lie...I got the tight throat, "I think I'm gonna cry" feeling when I first put him in it. But, I was strong and we had a good time watching him enjoy it.

2 Month Dr. Appt

Today Kaden had his 2 month check up. The Dr. confirmed what we already knew...he's perfect! He weighed in at exactly 12 lbs, and was 23 1/4 inches. That means he's gained 5 pounds, and grown a little over 6 inches. I told y'all he likes to eat! Everything else checked out perfect. They tried to redo his hearing tests (just to double check after the jaundice), but he wasn't very cooperative. He only let them do 1 ear. So, we know his left ear passed. We'll double check the right ear at his 4 month appt, but we're confident he's fine. He also got his first round of shots...3 to be exact! He took it like a pro!!! He cried for about 10 sec, and then was asleep before we even made it to the check out counter. He's been good all afternoon and evening. We're so proud of our growing baby!!

First Trip to Dallas

This past weekend we made our first trip to Dallas since Kaden was born. Because I had such a rough pregnancy and was sick so much, we never made it to Dallas for a shower. We decided early on that we would wait until after Kaden was born to have a shower with Micah's family in Dallas. It worked our really good cause Kaden was able to meet a lot of friends and family in Dallas. Here are some highlights from our trip.

(Warning: Micah's mom put Kaden through several photo shoots so there are A LOT of pictures.)
